Eden

The installation Eden makes use of the software program Facereader which can recognize facial expressions. The facial expressions of visitors are captured with a webcam and are transformed into giant, animated landscapes. Seven different landscapes for the seven universal facial expressions: fear, anger, amazement, joy, disgust and neutral. The animated landscapes express these moods through characteristic shapes and image elements. The landscapes are projected onto a big screen which invites the visitor to wander into their inner world. Eden is developed for and shown at the Image Radio Festival in Eindhoven, Netherlands in 2008. The central theme was Explore your invisible paradise.
