Even if a person doesn’t speak you can detect someone’s mood from his/her facial expression. Not just people can do this, computers can do it too. The installation Eden uses the FaceReader software that is able to interpret facial expressions. The visitors’ facial expressions are streamed through a webcam and rendered into seven life-size, animated landscapes (seven landscapes for the seven main expression). The visitor can wander his/her own inner world.
Eden was developed for and shown at the Image Radio Festival in 2008 which took place in Eindhoven, the Netherlands The festival theme was Explore your invisible paradise.
